Yesterday in Edinburgh I finally got a decent chunk of time to explore alone. After going on a quick tour of Edinburgh Castle, I wandered off to grab lunch on my own, but I ran into a couple from my tour who told me I should sit down with them.
I obliged, chatted a while, and then headed off to the other end of the Royal Mile to climb Calton Hill for some pretty views, a lot of selfie-taking practice in intense wind, and some movement after a lot of sitting on a bus over the last few days. I spent too much time on the hill just enjoying the views and didn’t have time to tour Holyrood Palace, where the queen stays when she’s in Scotland. So, I stood outside and took pictures, before making my way back toward the castle for to journey to Glasgow.
I also snapped some pictures of an adorable dog statue that commemorates a dog that supposedly sat on its owner’s grave for 14 years. Cutest statue ever. I loved Edinburgh. Then, it was off to Glasgow for a long and mediocre dinner and a long drive back to the hotel. Tomorrow I’m off to Belfast and Dublin, which involves a lot of bus and ferry time. Wish me luck.
